Finn Chr. Hurst

With a strong background in property management, investment, development, sales and leasing – Finn has a very broad skill set and manages the wider Wilson Hurst group in the northern half of the North Island.

Finn’s extensive experience began with him setting up a property management company for an Auckland real estate company. Setting his sights on London where he lived for five years, Finn worked as an Acquisition Manager for a property investment firm. He returned to New Zealand in 2007 to join Telecom’s prestigious property team, where he was charged with rolling out their 3G network. After three years in various roles within Telecom, Finn left to join forces with Vaughan Wilson and Wilson Hurst was formed.

Outside of the office, Finn is a keen family man but can be found in his spare time either fishing, diving, surfing or playing football (soccer). He is up for anything that presents itself as a good challenge or for a good cause, in 2013 Finn climbed Mt Cook to raise money for the Cancer Foundation.

Peter Rogan

Peter has been a Director of Wilson Hurst since October 2013, overseeing and developing operations in the South Island from the Christchurch office.  With over 20 years of experience within the property market, Peter has a breadth of knowledge associated with portfolio developments and property management.

He has helped manage the successful roll-out and upgrade of several telecommunications projects in Europe for companies including Ericsson, Vodafone and Hutchinson. More recently, he was involved in obtaining property rights for various clients in the South Island.

Originally from Wales, Peter has lived in New Zealand for 10 years and takes full advantage of the countryside on his doorstep, which his dog certainly appreciates. Other hobbies include skiing, dirt biking and reading history books.

Vaughan Wilson

Vaughan manages the Wellington office of Wilson Hurst along with business development and client liaison.

Vaughan is also involved in mobile phone site acquisition, tenancy searches for clients and wind farm turnover analysis and rental provisioning for Meridian Energy.

2015 marks Vaughan’s 20th year in the property industry beginning initially as a Real Estate Agent in Commercial Sales and Leasing, moving to a role as Valuer before locating at Telecom and overseeing its freehold entities.

Vaughan has since 2002 been working as a property consultant for a wide variety of corporate occupiers and government departments.

Chris joins Wilson Hurst with a proven background in residential real estate.  As a consistent top performer for Barfoot & Thompson, Chris achieved over $220 million in sales over a five year period. Chris is organised, tenacious and hard working - fundamental strengths a salesperson should have. 

Chris’ passion for working with people, his easy ability to build relationships and his strong negotiation skills meant that a career in real estate was a natural progression for him. Prior to his successful career at Barfoot & Thompson, Chris’ experience spanned ski seasons as a chef in Switzerland and Queenstown; from selling art for the art estates of John Lennon, Ronnie Wood, Marilyn Monroe and Miles Davis; to working as an estate manager in the Cotswolds, England. 

Chris prides himself on being adaptable in any market conditions and is committed to real estate for the long term. ‘I love how this job offers something different every day.  Moving to commercial is a new and exciting challenge for me and I’m keen to embrace this fast-paced side of the industry’.

Gemma Karalus

Gemma has a plenitude of experience, having dabbled in many industries in NZ, Australia and the UK before settling on working in property with Wilson Hurst. She started with Wilson Hurst in its infancy on legacy easement work for Chorus, within site acquisition. She has worked with the various mobile network providers and is now the Regional Team Lead for the Chorus consenting special project.

Gemma has a strong operational understanding of what is required to make a business tick and the ability to relate to people on all levels.
 
Outside of the office Gemma often spends time at the beach and enjoys music, arts and sports events. Gemma loves international and New Zealand wide travel.

Julia Ryall

Julia has worked in the property industry in both NZ and the UK for the past 16 years. Since graduating from Lincoln University she has worked across a broad variety of industries and clients.

She has worked on contracts for the Property Institute of NZ, Transit NZ, BNZ, Vodafone, NZ Post, Fletchers, Spark, Chorus and Auckland City Council to name a few.  She prides herself on developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and still keeps in contact with many of her previous clients.

Her specific skills are focussed on acquisitions, fit-outs, facilities management, lease reviews, portfolio management, lease & property analysis along with telecommunication work in both property acquisition manager roles.  Currently she is working with Spark in a property consultancy role, she is also working for Chorus on the UFB roll out along with using her skills for other projects such as property feasibility studies.

Outside of work Julia is kept busy with family life raising three wee girls, they have a love of camping in the summer months and in winter can be found up the mountain trying to train the girls to keep up on their skis!

Lucy Costello

Lucy brings a wealth of business experiences with a career spanning property acquisition and management, restaurant ownership and property law. Lucy has solidified her passion for property by completing a Diploma in Conveyancing to become a Registered Conveyancer, a new profession in New Zealand. Lucy has also completed studies in English Literature and Law.

Her extensive business management experience includes; negotiation and dispute resolution, an excellent knowledge of all facets of property management including residential and commercial leasing, residential building project management, financial management and the Sale and Purchase of land and the registration of interests.

Lucy has confirmed her commitment to Health and Safety in the workplace by providing Wilson Hurst’s companywide Health and Safety Policies and Plan, and undertaking the training requirements under the new legislation that came into force in April 2016. As the Health and Safety Representative for Wilson Hurst, Lucy is well versed in all the legal requirements outlined in the new legislation and the compliance requirements for small to medium businesses.

Lucy is also an excellent communicator and relationship manager which has ensured her success in all of the diverse fields that she has inhabited over the last twenty years, and since joining Wilson Hurst over four years ago she has continued to expand her skill set working with the Department of Corrections, MBIE, Chorus, Dilworth Trust Board and most recently a new venture offering conveyancing services for Dewhirst Law.

Brenna Fisher

Working primarily on behalf of the larger telecommunications companies in New Zealand, Brenna’s role at Wilson Hurst has seen her act in a number of different capacities. Her role encompasses site scoping and contractor management through to lease negotiation, drafting and reporting.

Her strengths include contract negotiations, driving projects to tight timelines and problem management - skills which have proved useful through the duration of various projects as well as throughout a wide range of lease management activity.

Brenna has worked closely with Wilson Hurst’s clients forming strong relationships at both Spark and Aurecon New Zealand as in house Acquisition Project Manager, using the opportunities to continue to grow her professional network.

Outside of the office Brenna enjoys following her passion for rugby locally, nationwide and internationally. Her wanderlust grew following her trip to the UK for the 2015 Rugby World Cup and a further 2 months of travel through Europe.

Sarah Wallis

Sarah has been working with Wilson Hurst since 2014 and in that time has progressed through the ranks by demonstrating an exemplary work ethic combined with a collaborative team focus and results driven processes to tight time-frames. Sarah is now the Senior Acquisitions Manager on the nationwide ultra-fast broadband roll out and leads a team of 14 in Wellington.

Hailing from the UK with a design background, Wilson Hurst have been very lucky to claim her as one of their own when she decided to finish her travelling by settling in NZ. She takes extra care of the needs of her team and customers nationwide.

Sarah has a busy life in the Wairarapa with her two well-loved dogs. Her passion for design is reflected in her home renovation projects.

Aidan joined the Wilson Hurst Auckland team as Site Acquisition Manager in 2018 - bringing on board immense enthusiasm and innovation.

Within his role doing property consultancy, Aidan’s main projects are acquisitions for large Kiwi organisations, helping them to acquire interest in land.

Maintaining relations with clients is a significant value for Wilson Hurst - Aidan’s role doing site visits is integral to ensure fluid communication and productiveness. Aidan’s office is often unconventional and can transform from an office desk, to an airplane and on the road en route to a site visit all in a day’s work.

With a background in law, real-estate and business - he has a unique and diverse skill set that makes him a valued addition to the Wilson Hurst family.

Aidan has taken up various roles overseas – including in Sri Lanka where he spent a number of years living, working and learning to speak the Sinhala language.

In 2015 he began practicing as a real-estate agent in Auckland’s East inner-city suburbs, which led him in a natural path towards his current field of work.

Currently, he has his sights set on rolling out 5G networking nationally - a pursuit that he is often exploring in his spare time.

In his spare time Aidan’s adventurous, thrill-seeker side comes out - taking him onto the track for four wheel driving and sport bike racing. He gravitates towards outdoor activities and enjoys exploring local beaches for surfing and fishing with his wife and two children.

Vili joined the Property Consultancy team at Wilson Hurst Wellington in 2019, bringing on board with him a wealth of dynamic experience.

His background spans both the private and public sectors, with a career that has included contract management and strategy, property advisory, portfolio management and acquisitions. This experience is strengthened by his excellent knowledge of the many facets of the industry.

A career highlight for Vili was being involved in the roll-out of the Government Property Portal initiative, for all government agencies in 2016.

Vili’s current area of expertise is focused on residential properties. He provides market valuation assessments for urban, inner-city and residential apartments - as well as mortgagee/forced sales and residential developments throughout the wider Wellington region.

An excellent communicator and relationship manager, Vili has found success in all of his career ventures and is eager to continue expanding and diversifying his skill set.

Away from the office, Vili enjoys exploring local walking tracks, cultural festivals and trying new restaurants. He enjoys fitness and learning new sports, recently taking on squash and tennis.
