Wilson Hurst were instructed by Spark to acquire a new cellsite at the Christchurch International Airport Limited (CIAL) . For operational reasons this scheme was required to be as close as possible to the main terminals so as to provide extensive indoor and outdoor coverage. We liaised closely with CIAL property group to establish a location that provided the optimum solution whilst considering the day to day operations of the airport and any future developments plans. The site identified was an existing floodlight tower. The new lease area would now comprise a cell tower with the relocated floodlights installed below the antennas upon the new structure. 

We negotiated a secure long term lease with desirable terms and conditions that secured Spark's future coverage at this major transport hub. We also liaised closely with the Civil Aviation Authority in order to obtain their necessary approvals and compliance. Wilson Hurst organised montages and drawings for CIAL so their architectural team could approve the scheme. To ensure the scheme reached all areas of the terminals we arranged security clearance for the Radio Planning teams to undertake RF tests around the terminals including the airside parts at the airport.

We attended a number of meetings with various CIAL departments at the airport to ensure that the strict timeframes and project plans were discussed and adhered to. Matters ranged from build dates, methodology, safety plans, utility routes, power, crane access and relationships with existing CIAL tenants impacted by the scheme.

Wilson Hurst were at the coal face and acted as a point of contact for CIAL at the outset of the project. We liaised with a number of different organisations over the duration of the scheme and gelled with these companies. On behalf of Spark we acted in a diligent and professional manner and succeeded on obtaining an excellent outcome for our client within the tight timeframes imposed on the project.
